HOWARD BASHFORD

Howard BashfordHoward Bashford owned and operated an engineering consulting firm for 19 years and a construction-development company for 8 years before coming to the Del. E. Webb School of Construction (DEWSC) in 1991. He has been a faculty member ever since, spending two years at Brigham Young University and the remainder of the time at DEWSC.

Dr. Bashford has served as Director of the Graduate Program since 1997. He has also worked with Drs. Walsh and Sawhney of DEWSC to develop a collaborative research program focused upon residential construction, which has lead to the development of the Housing Research Institute (HRI), a public-private partnership between the homebuilding industry and ASU, of which Dr. Bashford is a co-director. Dr. Bashford is very happy to serve as one of the founding faculty members of the new, innovative, transdisciplinary Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program at ASU. Dr. Bashford is a member of the National Consortium of Housing Research Centers, the past national president of the Associated Schools of Construction, and the past North American Chairman of CIBW 99 Work Group. The focus of his research and teaching has been the residential construction industry and is well published in this field.
